White Noise delivers messages through independent servers called relays. Your identity isn’t tied to any one of them. Connect to multiple relays and switch whenever you want, keeping the same identity and contacts. You can even run your own relay and choose who you share it with.

White Noise is built on Marmot, a free, open-source messaging protocol anyone can use or build on without asking permission. That opens the door to different apps with different styles and features. You can chat with people using other Marmot-compatible apps or switch to one yourself. Everyone gets to choose what suits them and still stay connected.

Is White Noise free?
Yes. White Noise is free to download and open source. Running your own relay or choosing a paid relay service can have separate costs, but you do not need to run a server to get started.
Which devices can I use?
White Noise is built for iPhone and Android.
Who can read my messages?
Messages are end-to-end encrypted for the participants in your conversation. White Noise and the relays carrying those messages cannot read their content. Participants can still copy or share what they receive, and someone with access to an unlocked or compromised device may be able to read messages on it.
Which agents can I connect?
MDK provides integrations for Hermes, OpenClaw, Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, and Pi. Run the connector alongside your existing agent on a supported Mac or Linux computer, add its White Noise identity, and invite it to a conversation.
